【Mission】

 

 

  • To act as a resource center in southern Taiwan, providing access to Southeast Asian languages and cultures
  • To strengthen the teaching and researching in the field of Southeast Asian languages and cultures
  • To establish a collaborative platform with domestic and international academia to promote Southeast Asian languages and cultures
  • To expand the collaboration with Southeast Asian industries as well as increase internship opportunities in that region.
  • To highlight the objective of cultivating language professions well-equipped with versatile skills by offering the "Southeast Asian Languages and Industries Program." Through this specialized program, students are offered the chance to learn multiple languages and the capability to develop their careers aboard. In addition, the center is striving to expand the opportunities for international collaboration, industry-government-academia projects, and to increase our contribution to the society. 

 

The Center will develop diverse collaborative programs with the government, education sectors as well as enterprises.  The Center is: 

  1. To offer industry-oriented courses: Centered on core courses in Vietnamese and Indonesian with a focus on cultural and industrial-related issues. In addition to industrial specialized courses for enterprises, the curriculum design focuses on cultivating competent students for further career needs. Also, the center strives for the opportunities of nursing talented professionals in collaboration with ASEAN, trading and cultural organizations and enterprises.
  2. To develop cross-border internship programs and industry-government-academia collaboration:
    Actively inviting not only domestic but also foreign researchers and professionals to co-teach or deliver series of speeches.
    • Zealously seeking the opportunities for internships in both local and overseas companies and strengthening the industry-government-academia relationship.
    • Collaborating with the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of the Interior, the City Government and Southeast Asia Economic and Cultural Offices in Taiwan, Southern Taiwan Community Universities, TransAsia Sisters Association, Taiwan and other new immigrant organizations
    • Collaborating with Southeast Asian industrial institutions on different projects
  3. To implement the authentication of our teaching materials, teacher training, and language certification mechanism.: Exchanging with strategic alliances with Vietnam, Indonesia and local Southeast Asian research institutions, arranging regular visits for teachers and students from academic institutions and universities in Southeast Asia, and arranging experts and scholars from Vietnam and Indonesia to conduct teacher training. In addition, in order to meet the needs of Southeast Asian immigrant students to learn their mother tongue, the center will actively collaborate with the teachers and students of our sister universities in Southeast Asia to design teaching materials, teacher training program and language certification mechanism.
  4. Since August 2014, the center has been offering the Southeast Asian Language and Industries Program. The short-term plan includes setting up language courses in Vietnamese, Thai and Indonesian, as well as specialized courses in the industry related field. These courses are also available to students from other universities. In addition, the center also offers Continuing Education credit courses, putting effort into promoting Southeast Asian languages in southern Taiwan.

We are the only foreign language university in Taiwan and will continue to offer quality Southeast Asian language courses since the Southeast Asian languages are expected to become significant advantages for Taiwan leading into Europe and Asia regions in the future.
