Introduction / Why do you choose MSEAS? / Learning Goal

I just finish International Master Business Administration program at National University of Kaohsiung. I will graduate Master Degree at National University of Kaohsiung.

I would like to apply for the Master's Degree in Southeast Asia Language Course in Wenzao Ursuline University of Language because my past thesis I come to know the vast practical applications of the relationship between Vietnam and Taiwan, and this caught my attention and created a thirst of knowledge in me to study my chosen course. My motto is to work in an international field, especial Southeast Asia. Therefore, I would like to gain deeper theoretical and practical knowledge in starting and managing most innovative projects. After completion of my master’s studies I hope to be able to take part in maximizing my country’s research technology in such fields to benefit its economy and enhance the living standards of my compatriots. I believe that this Master’s Program will provide me with the chance to get to know with economy, culture of Southeast Asian area. I hope that I can gain more experience in dealing with situations, peoples, systems and demands which will be of a great help in my future career at Southeast Asia.

Name: Maestro, Mark Sherwin M (Filipino)

Introduction:

A filmmaker, an artist, and educator from The Philippines. Won and Exhibited films in different film festivals like Castlemaine State Festival 2017 in Australia, Sinag Maynila Film Festival 2016, .MOV International Film Festival, Active Vista Film Festival, Pelikultura Film Festival, Cinemarehiyon, and CCP Independent Film and Video Tilt.

Some of his works were recognized in the said film festivals, in consequence, his film ‘Pikit sa Alas-Tres’ (Uncertainties at 3) won Best Experimental film in the 24th CCP Independent Film and Video Tilt and ‘Sa Gabi Nahihimlay Nasaan Ka Aking Madaling-Araw’ (On Night’s Sleep, Where Are You My Daylight?) won honorable mention for its artistry. The films were also exhibited in country’s yearly anticipated film festival Cinemalaya 2013 as part of ANI (Harvest) Experimental and Animation.

He is a also a Creative Director produces campaigns in various government sectors for agencies like the Department of Energy, Department of Health, Department of Budget and Management, and the Office of the Presidential on the Peace Process. In addition, he produces documentary films for the rights of children and energy sustainability with International Non-Government Organizations like Save the Children, Compassion International, and USAID.

He shares his industry knowledge, expertise, and artistic passion as a college educator teaching Visual Communication, Language, Cinema, Marketing, and Advertising in De La Salle University- Dasmarinas where he earned his degree in Broadcast Journalism.

I know that studying Masters in Southeast Asian Studies and utilize the medium of visual communication, film, documentary, and advertising will give me easier access in the enlightening wider audience to address various issues often neglected in Southeast Asia specifically in human rights, infrastructure, poverty, and traffic system.

The program offers sustainability and solutions, that I believed I can definitely use in spreading awareness about social entrepreneurship through teaching and serving the government and various sectors.

Learning Goal:

Taiwan is one of the leading countries in Asia and in the world that offers best education. The country gives great importance to education that produce great leaders in various fields.

Since I am teaching communication, humanities, language, arts, and media in college, I am looking for a university that can faithfully hone my skills, be multilingual social entrepreneur, and excel in many fields.

Learning another language is also one of the reasons why I am pursuing Master’s education abroad. Exploring another country is embracing one’s culture, delighting their food is discovering their history, and learning their language is appreciating their value.

I believed that being multilingual is an advantage and giving me more chances to act, create, and touch hearts and mind. 

Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages is one of the finest schools that provides excellent learning and is devoted to language education.

The university offers one of a kind program Master in Southeast Asian Studies that promotes ‘Social Entrepreneurship’. A commitment not just to create success in business or economy, but most especially to change the world through helping others and uplifting their lives.
