Southeast Asia Under Stress: COVID-19, Geopolitics and Domestic Challenges
The COVID-19 pandemics have exposed the Southeast Asian nations to political and socio-economic vulnerability and risk. The geo-political order has been tested and once again ASEAN finds itself at a crossroad. The political and economic health of Southeast Asian countries are under stress, and the social fabric of societies strained. This major theme of this conference will be the exploration of the challenges faced by Southeast Asia in a politicized environment of the global pandemic. It aims to reflect on the externalities of geopolitical changes and on-going struggle of political-economy linkages shaping responses to the COVID-9 in these nation-states.
This is a must attend event for all Southeast Asian specialists in political economy, security, civil society and culture in the academia to discuss and exchange views in their fields of expertise. The conference continues to adopt an inclusive and multidisciplinary approach to examine the new forces that continue to shape both regional and international relations in Southeast Asia.
The organizers encourage submissions of panel proposals or individual presentations on the following sub-themes:

6. Market and Governance

9. Prevention and Control of COVID-19 in Taiwan

Abstract submission deadline: April 30, 2021
Notification of accepted papers: May 31, 2021
Official registration period: June 1- August 31, 2021
Deadline for full paper submissions: August 31, 2021
Official registration for general participants: August 1 – September 15, 2021

1. Registration: Free.
2. No late abstract or full paper will be accepted after the deadline. Online system will be closed.
3. All presenters and participants should cover their own airfare to Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
4. Complementary meals will be provided during the conference.
5. A complementary half-day Kaohsiung tour will be an option.
