東南亞學系英文專書介紹《Southeast Asia: Transition and Transformation》(2018)

文藻外大東南亞學系自2017年起辦理「文藻外語大學東南亞國際學術研討會」（Wenzao Ursuline International Conference on Southeast Asian Studies, ICSEAS），並於會後邀請參與優秀學者共同出版英文專書。2018年專書以「Southeast Asia: Transition and Transformation」為題，並邀請東南亞學系何啟良特聘教授專文介紹：

Countries all over the world have seen many changes since the end of World War II, and Asia is no exception. Southeast Asia and Taiwan, most notably, have had to reinvent their socio-political mindsets to avoid economic and population stagnation, adapt to the rapid technological advances intruding in everyday life, and rise to the challenges and risks associated with the slew of social and economic changes affecting daily life. As we seek to cope with the bewildering onslaught of change in our lives and countries, the theme ''Southeast Asia: Transition and Transformation" at the 2018 Wenzao International Conference on South-east Asian Studies is a timely one. Organized by the Center for Southeast Asian Language Teaching and held at the Wenzao Ursuline University in Kaohsiung in Taiwan, the 2018 Conference allowed participants to take stock of the changes -both subtle and overt - in the various Southeast Asian states. At the conference, the participants discussed the ways in which these transformations impacted the various governments, transformed their mentalities, and trickled down to affect the people. A selection of the many insightful papers on transformation and transition presented at the Conference has been compiled into this volume. All the chapters here touch on the Southeast Asian nation-states' attempts to tackle these issues of change as they transitioned to the next stage of their socio-economic and political development.
